Sinhagad, Sinhgarh, or Sinhgad, is a fortress located roughly 30 kilometers southwest of the city of Pune, India. Previously called Kondhana, the fort has been the site of many important battles, most notably the Battle of Sinhagad in 1671. bungalows of Lokmanya Tilak, a great freedom fighter, and G.D.
Madgulkar, a famous Marathi Poet, are also located atop the fort. One
can get an amazing view of the Panshet, Khadakwasla and Varasgaon dams
as well as the Torana fort from Sinhagad. A popular weekend destination,
the fort is also used by the National Defence Academy for training
purposes.
